Managing Prolapse

Jodie Pulsifer from Full Circle Physiotherapy gives us some more helpful tips to managing prolapse so that we can still move and do all of the daily activities that we love doing! If you're wondering what prolapse is - be sure to check out last week's blog post: What is Prolapse?

The first thing that is suggested is to have a regular, easy to pass bowel movement. Constipation can mean that the intestines are weighing down on the pelvic organs.

The second suggestion is to ensure that your pelvic floor muscles are strong enough to support the organs above them.

Some research shows that engaging in light to moderate activity like walking and bodyweight strength training from 6-8 weeks postpartum can be protective of the pelvic floor.
